I'm willing to bet that it is true. The "Church" of Scientology is a ruthless, extremely litigous cult.

Tom Cruise is reason enough for me to dislike it. He is the devil.

I'm just curious how they can get so many high profile celebreities to join, and believe in it. Most of all, how they can get away with all that for the last...iono 50+ years?

They usually use an audio/visual Pavlovian response mechanism.

Regarding the question of how they get celebrities to join, I'd say that most celebrities are quite detached from reality to begin with, and joining niche religions seems to be the "in" thing with some of them, so I'm not too surprised that the CO$ can manage to get ahold of some of them.

targetted sure, but why would celebrities join such organizations to begin with? was my question.

What are they getting out of it exactly by putting that money into scientology? There are celebrities that I don't like (Tom Cruise) and celebrities I do like (chick corea) in scientology. They can't all be completely oblivious to all the bad publicity surrounding Scientology right? I wonder what's in it for them exactly.

I doubt it's cuz it's the "thing" with celebrities these days, like EE said. But hey I'm just speculating.

so i've been watching some videos about scientology on youtube. apparently in clearwater, florida, they have huge problems with the law enforcement basically working for the large scientologist population there. tehy're threatened if they don't comply with letting scientologists do whatever they'd like. there are cases of assualt, people who have been harmed by the scienttologists beign denied medical care (even one case of death after such a situation) and numerous other shocking types of behavior.

people who protest against scientology are routinely stalked and harmed. it's all very disturbing.

WHY are so many normal and high profile people drawn into such an organization?

www.xenu.net seems to be the definitive anti-CO$ site. I suggest checking that out if you're interested in investigating this more.

Sorry to bump an ancient thread, but has anybody else noticed the massive amount of anti-Co$ activity going on online lately?

I can't wait for the flood of videos on Feb 10th. They have protests planned in dozens of cities around the world.

Here's one that already happened. It's pretty amusing:
