I voted athEIst, however, besides your typo I wanted to note something important. I consdier myself atheist becuase I do not know of any gods nor do I feel the need for one in my life. I do not reject the possibility (however small that possibility may be).

Agnostics are just atheists who are afraid to commit. (joke) Anyway, atheism means different things to different people. The two main distinctions that I know of are those who are without belief in god vs those who assert god doesn't exist. A nuance to some, night and day to others.

By what you just said, I think that makes you agnostic?

I consider someone who is agnostic someone who searches for a god, or would like one in their life.

Its impossible to totally disprove something, therefore I remain open, but Im not looking for anything or wanting anything.

AGNOSTIC (dictionary.com)
1.
a. One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.
b. One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism.
2. One who is doubtful or noncommittal about something.

AGNOSTIC (Merriam-Webster's definition)
Main Entry: 1ag·nos·tic
Pronunciation: ag-'näs-tik, &g-
Function: noun
Etymology: Greek agnOstos unknown, unknowable, from a- + gnOstos known, from gignOskein to know -- more at KNOW
: a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and prob. unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god

wikipedia's essay entry on agnosticism

I'm sure I can find more definitions in case some of you aren't sure, or have your own definitions.

I'm agnostic.

Agnostic atheist.

Maybe I'll figure out how to edit the poll, but right now, I don't feel like it.

I would say pantheist... that's at least the closest word that comes to mind. My spritual beliefs are basically the polar opposite of the "one true way" mentality found in a lot of western religions nowadays.

But it certainly explains the results of the Roe v. Wade poll.

Now you can't make that correlation for certain.

well the reason I did this poll was because I was born in a hindu family where my parents never gave much importance to God or religion itself...so for the better part of my life (or worse?) I was an agnostic...someone who searches for the answers to his questions regarding existence of God. Last week I accepted christanity due to some unbelievable circumstance that changed me and altered the state of my mind and the euphoria from it is so huge that I cant even express it in words.

Yeah, it is a bit odd to see so many atheists on campus...and I can't figure out the way to edit my typo in the poll...help...anybody???

I voted Christian.

However, I wouldn't put myself in that category fully so I will call myself a monotheist.

My thoughts are that most organized monotheist religions are based on similar foundations but have differences which have evolved due to human interaction over centuries. I cannot possibly believe any one religion or denomination of a religion is the one 'true' religion.

Furthermore, I feel like it is important to take an objective look at religion before one declares ultimate faith. A majority of Christian groups like to use the fear of eternal damnation as a tool to recruit individuals. IMHO, fear of persecution as a foundation of belief is not faith.
